Pencil Icon Photoshop Tutorial

1. Make a new photoshop file, zoom i to 300% and then make pale blue circle.

2. Contract the selection by 5 pixel and then, on a new layer, fill the selelction with darker blue.

3. Create a path layer and then use the pen to to make a weve.

4. Complete the path like in the image to the right.

5. Use the path as a selection and then use layer via cut to cut out the top half. Set the brightness of the top part to -25.

6. On a new layer create a rectangular selelction

7. Fill it with yellow.

8. Use the rectangular marquee to selelct the 2/3 of it to the right.

9. Set the brightness of it to -10 to and then select the final 3rd, also setting the brigtness of it to a further -10.

10. Do the same thing but with a shorter white layer.

11. Use the rounded rectangle too to create a pink rectangle with 5 radius corners.

12. Make a slection using it.

13. Set the foreground to white and then use the linear gradient tool to create a forground to transparent gradient, by dragging from the center and across.

14. Set the opacity of the gradient to 64 and then use the polyginal lasso tool to create a light brown traiangle for the tip. Use the marquee tool to select the bottom part and then set its brightness to -100.

Final. Thats the end of this tutorial and now you have a nice pencil icon to use on your site!
